This competition is open to all liturgical and spiritual dance teams.
Professional performers are not allowed to participate. Professional performers include those with degrees or have performed professionally with a company. This competition is strictly for amateurs.

INDIVIDUAL/SOLO: Open To Any Dancer Age 12 – Adult.
YOUTH GROUPS: Open to groups with dancers age 12 – 17. Max group size of 8 members.
ADULT GROUPS: Open to groups with dancers age 18 – Adult. Max group size of 8 members.
Each group must meet all of the following requirements:
- The organization must be in the City of Winston-Salem.
- All competitors must be at least 12 years of age by October 1, 2017.
Awards will be distributed at the conclusion of the event. Teams must be present to win.
Music must be edited in advance to meet the time guidelines listed below. Music that does not meet contest time limits will not be used.
DUE: All music must be submitted with registration for pre-screening no later than October 6, 2017.
FORMAT: The music format should be a CD with one track for each entrant.
- If an organization has multiple entrants, a separate CD must be submitted for each entrant.
- Label each CD with the group name, dance directors contact, and phone number.
- The track should be a high quality MP3 or WAV file that can be played from any media source.
LENGTH: The track should be no longer than 2:45 minutes.
Participants can register online through www.RejoiceWinstonSalem.com The registration form must be completed entirely. Individual waivers should be attached for ALL participants. Group registration will require a team roster with specified participant ages and a group contact. The registration fee will be due at the time of registration and is not refundable.
$75 per entry, non-refundable, due at time of registration for Group Performances. $50.00 per entry, non-refundable, due at time of registration for Individual/Solo Performance.
Performances will be judged by three experienced judges. Judges to include: dancer, instructor, choreographer, and or educator. The judges will score each performance based on:
- Creativity and originality (10 points)
- Dance coordination and synchronization (10 points)
- Technical merit (10 points)
- Performance Attire (5 points)
- Overall impression and performance presentation (15 points)
Performers can earn up to a total possible score of 50. The judges scores will be averaged together to determine the overall team score. The judge’s decision is final and will not be subject to review.
Performance must be at least 2 minutes in length and no longer than 3 minutes. Teams will be limited to 5 minutes on stage, which includes time to enter and exit the stage. Teams exceeding 5 minutes will be penalized.
Items such as flags, ribbon, scarves, and crosses not to exceed 3 feet may be used. All props must be free-standing; no props shall be affixed to walls or curtains or flown above the stage.
Performers will be sent day of event procedures via email prior to the event. Performers will have designated seating within the auditorium. An area will be available for warm up/dressing for your performance. This space will ONLY be available 15 minutes prior to your performance. You will be notified when it is time to go to the designated areas by an event coordinator. All personal items must remain with you until that time. Sufficient time will be given to each participating group for preparation. Once the performance has been completed, each team must immediately return to their designated group seating area until the event concludes.
By registering for this competition, performers agree to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner with a positive presentation upon entering and exiting the auditorium. Team coordinators are responsible for seeing that the members of their teams conduct themselves accordingly.
Any performer that does not adhere to the terms and procedures of the Official Rules will be subject to disqualification, and forfeit any rights to any awards presented.
