“And David danced with all his might before the Lord” 2 Samuel 6:14
Liturgical dance uses the power, elegance and rhythms of bodily movement in a uniquely kinetic and expressive form of worship.
Rejoice Winston-Salem aspires to bring together the dance ministries of Winston-Salem churches across denominational, ethnic, and racial boundaries to unite the participants and the audience in a powerful day of wordless worship and praise.
This inaugural dance competition is the initiative of Winston-Salem City Council Member Denise D. Adams, who has been drawn to liturgical dance all her life. In visiting other churches and experiencing their vibrant liturgical dance ministries, Council Member Adams saw the potential to promote this art form through a friendly competition that would uplift, encourage and inspire.
